Need for Teacher Guides

We recommend adding teaching guides to each module of your course. This will not only assist you in teaching the unit or module in the future, but can assist another teacher in the event you need a substitute teacher, or you wish to share your course with another person.

Teacher Guide Format

There is no set format for your teacher guides. We simply ask that you provide enough background information, additional resources, and guidance that in the event someone else needed to teach the unit, they could do so more easily.

Teacher Guide Template

We have included a basic Teacher Guide template in the course templates. You need not always fill out every section in the template; simply use the sections that are most relevant or helpful.

The template includes:

• Background Information
• Learning Objectives
• Materials Needed
• Technology or Software Needed
• Time Required
• Instructions for Teaching the Unit
• Additional Resources

Feel free to edit the template to better meet your needs. If you edit the template, you can use the duplicate page feature to make as many copies as you need in each course.
